On 8 March 1714 at Weimar, Joh. Seb. Bach received an early birthday present from his wife Maria Barbara, a second son whom they named Carl Philipp Emanuel. CPE grew up immersed in the family’s musical life and received his music education from his Father. He went on to establish in his own right a stellar reputation across Europe for his influential keyboard works.

LBS presents the exciting and engaging Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani playing solos and concertos in a special birthday celebration of Bach, Father and Son, joined by the distinguished period instrumentalists of Steinitz Bach Players and sharing his thoughts with the audience in his own unique way. Mahan is a former BBC New Generation Artist now enjoying an international solo career.
