Following their acclaimed first disc for Avie Records, Conversazioni I, Sounds Baroque have now devised a varied programme of dazzling duet cantatas that might also have been written for artistic gatherings in Rome – or conversazioni. Well-known and neglected cantatas that vacillate between the despair of unrequited love and the delights of Arcadian bliss, an instrumental trio sonata that typifies the classical restraint of the early Italian Baroque and virtuosic keyboard and violin works. Programme to include works by Caldara, Corelli, Gasparini, Handel, Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti.
