Illuminare and Knightsbridge Baroque perform Bach’s St John Passion at St Paul’s Knightsbridge.
Illuminare is a chamber choir comprising some of the finest singers in London and Cambridge. The choir was founded in 2012 by Jeremy Cole, for a concert in Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge. The choir achieved a reputation in Cambridge for their superb performances of early music, notably Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 and Bach’s St John Passion. Illuminare now plans to bring its fresh and vibrant sound to London, beginning with a performance of Bach’s St John Passion.
Illuminare’s debut London concert will see a 16-strong choir performing once again with a professional orchestra of period instruments, led by exciting young violinist Rachel Stroud. The part of the Evangelist will by sung by Gwilym Bowen, a superb tenor currently studying on the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music. Conducted by Jeremy Cole
