The concert is part of Maldon Festival of Arts and will offer a tribute to renown castrato Guadalberto Magli, first singer in Monteverdi’s Orfeo in the role of Musica, and admired harpist in Europe at the beginning of the 17th Century. The programme follows his travels from Florence, as pupil of Giulio Caccini, to Mantua working with Monteverdi, then to Naples and Brandenburg at the end of his career. An extraordinary story during one of the most exciting season for Italian music, where words and singing meet together to play on the strings of La Lira di Orfeo.

Raffaele Pe – countertenor
Chiara Granata – triple harp
David Miller – theorbo and lute
