Platinum Consort explores the many varied expressions of the darkness of Passiontide with this programme of Renaissance choral music. This liturgical period has evoked some of the most highly-charged music ever written. Victoria’s stripped back, almost desolate, Lamentations for Holy Saturday are juxtaposed with the overtly rich textures of Browne’s Stabat Mater and Taverner’s Dum transisset Sabbatum. Other composers featured include Lassus, Josquin, Cardoso, Clemens non Papa and Tallis.
