The early music group Cancionero are presenting a programme entitled “This sceptred isle” – a celebration of British history including folk songs and ballads as well as music from the middle ages and compositions by Henry VIII, Purcell and Handel. The music will be interspersed with short readings from Shakespeare and other writers. The concert features an exotic array of instruments including lute, hurdy gurdy, crwth, rebec, recorder, harp and gemshorn. Cancionero is a Kent-based group and its members are Anne and Anthony Purnell, Brian White, Katharine Head and Imogen Dyer.

Come and join us for a magical musical afternoon travelling through time and exploring the four corners of the British Isles.
