An evening of musical story-telling for a freezing November: medieval duo Flos Hamonicus (mezzo-soprano and baritone voices, medieval and clarsach harps, hurdy-gurdy, percussion and a selection of recorders) perform medieval and folk music from the British Isles, from the lilting, melismatic chant of the twelfth-century Welsh church to Irish folk dances to drive the storms away, via the songs of the Scottish Highlands, early English hymns to the Virgin Mary and extended ballad songs – some sacred and some most decidedly secular.
