Poeticall Musicke is an exciting new early music ensemble founded in December 2010 by Alex McCartney. The group is unique in its approach to the interpretation and exploration of early works. It is also one of the few ensembles to feature a baroque harp, theorbo and viola da gamba in its standard line up.
Poeticall Musicke is privileged to have the support of the renowned soprano Emma Kirkby, who joins the ensemble this year as an Honorary Patron.
Poeticall Musicke is currently in residence at St James Church, London and All Saints Church, York, where they regularly perform and record. They have also performed in festivals such as the Lumen Early Music Festival and the Islington Proms in London. The ensemble are regular performers in various London concert series hosted by: St. Anne and St. Agnes Church, The Foundling Museum, St. Pancras Church, Christ Church Spitalfields and the Southbank Centre. Each member of the group is an expert in their own field, all having worked professionally for a number of years; please see their personal biographies for details.
The ensemble have released five recordings this year on the record label Veterum Musica.
Poeticall Musicke is grateful for the support of the Early Music Shop.
