A group of 1,000 young people from schools and youth choirs will be given the chance to sing under the baton of Suzi Digby in a performance of Handel’s Messiah in December.
The Scratch Youth Messiah event is inviting young people under the age of 25 to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. Each year, Scratch Concerts Ltd creates a production of the Messiah to perform at the Royal Albert Hall with The Really Big Chorus, the UK’s biggest choral society. Their 2013 production will be followed by the first ever Scratch Youth Messiah performance.
Youth choirs of all abilities are invited to take part and can choose which choruses and arias they would like to perform.
Conductor Suzi Digby was presented with an OBE in 2009 for her outstanding services to music education. She is the founder of The Voices Foundation, Vocal Futures and co-founder of the London Youth Choir. Scratch Concerts will celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2014.
The deadline for registration to take part is 15 July 2013. The youth performance of Messiah will take place on 1 December 2013 at 2.15pm.
