BBC Radio 3 is dedicating a month of broadcasting to the baroque period, featuring music and drama of the era.

The season, entitled Baroque Spring, is set to cover the period 1600–1750 and will take over BBC Radio 3’s airwaves from 3 March to 1 April. The Early Music Show will launch proceedings with a special edition featuring The English Concert.

Other highlights among the Baroque Spring programme include: Baroque-around-the-clock, a Red Nose Day special featuring baroque comedy and music; In Tune’s baroque masterclasses, featuring tips from harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani and trumpet player Alison Balsom; and actor Dominic West reading poetry from the baroque era.
