Handel composed Acis & Galatea in 1718 while in the service of the Duke of Chandos, at whose country house Cannons the work is reputed to have received its first performance.

Now, harpsichordist Laurence Cummings will conduct four world-class soloists, the instrumental ensemble La Nuova Musica, and a chorus of students from North London Collegiate and Harrow schools in a performance of the work at NLCS’s modern theatre, which sits alongside the gardens of Cannons. The performance will be staged by director, Martin Parr.
